Supabase Postgres enforces RLS policies that physically isolate every user's rows from every other user's rows — at the database engine level, not the application layer.
Every SQL query generated by centKoala's backend operates under strict Postgres RLS policies. A user's financial transactions, group memberships, and personal settings can only be read or modified by that user's authenticated session — no application-level WHERE clause trick can bypass this. The database enforces isolation as a hard constraint.
Bank statement and invoice parsing is performed by a locally hosted Llama language model running on your own infrastructure — not a third-party cloud AI API. Your raw financial PDFs and email invoices are never transmitted to OpenAI, Google, or any external service. The AI model processes data in-process and discards it immediately after extraction.
Every sensitive action — login, group invite, balance change, statement generation — is written to an append-only audit_events table. Nothing can be silently deleted. This provides a tamper-resistant financial audit trail that you control.
Token Security Architecture
TOKEN_PEPPER salts all hashed tokens server-side, ensuring that even a full database dump reveals nothing usable without the live server secret.
